When you first posted this, I had to re-read your title, because it looks almost like an aerial shot of some low cacti or desert growths on a striated desert-like floor. A fascinating close up, and the bark is quite rich---redder than the pines we have here---and looking almost like dried lava spill. And the little needles are like little fireworks. Fine composition, you couldn't have done better if you set it up in a studio; and fine light too. Wonderful closeup that has the feel of a large overview. Wonderful work, Harry.
