Description

It's too cold here to go out, so I have time to make some pictures. :-) I rebuild the A-4E to an A-4C. Do you see the difference? :-) Look at the intakes! And the nose is shorter, compared to the E. BTW I made a A-4B too, with a more different nose, a picture comes later. Well, this is a typical scene on the catapult. We are in the year 1968 on USS Enterprise at Yankee Station with an A-4C of VA-56 on the catapult. The servicemen makes the last work to secure the briddles before they run away and the catapult officer gives sign to start. The deflector is erected behind the Skyhawk. In the background a F-4B of VF-96 is rolling to a catapult. The men are wearing the green shirts of the catapult men and the catapult officer a yellow shirt. The man in background with white shirt is a VIP or a visitor or an air transfer officer (it's too loud to ask him). Steam ruptures out of the catapult. It is under pressure, ready to launch the Skyhawk...

Excellent, excellent job. I like the density of the crew, aircraft, and equipment, and the view of the tower is just the right note to indicate where it's all happening. Very detailed and well thought out composition. Nice work on the A-4 mods as well.

cool- I took some TA-4 cat shots and traps in the training command. pretty good stuff. Good airplane. Like this shot. At some point you might want to change some of the green shirts for brown shirts. These would be the individual squadron plane captains who would also give a last minute look at the aircraft prior to run up by the cat officer. In my career, I had several color shirts as I worked as a maintenance officer as well as a pilot. Had some white shirts for LSO work for example. Nothing like a cat shot, best E ticket ride ever. In an F-4, 0 to about 160 MPH in about the time it took to say "good shot". Flew the RF-4 off the Midway- great fun.
