Description

A massive piece of driftwood sitting in front of some massive boulders on the beach at Bandon, Oregon. I can visualize how logs & branches end up on a beach, but I have a hard time comprehending how a huge chunk like this gets deposited there. It's been raining hard here since last night (much needed) with strong winds. I drove home from my bi-weekly poker game at around midnight last night & there was debris scattered all over the roads... Please zoom.

What an impressive piece of nature sculpture! I wonder if it didn't get deposited there as much as was unburied by the action of tides? It would be cool to carbon date it and see how old it is.

It's because wood floats, no matter how much of it there is. Aside from that ... what a terrific picture!! A seriously cool piece of driftwood, and a most excellent shot.

amazing thing, big sculptural structure with swirl-lines in and around it. And it just sits there, like a municipal sculpture. Great find, and your many-toned grays make it harmonize with its surroundings, like a sculpture in a sculpture garden. I like the thin layer of water under it too. Finely seen and presented.

That does look huge and reminds me of the debris that I saw along the Washington coast and seeing all of the things that had crossed the Pacific!
