As soon as the scientist wishes for a faster computer, he hears a whirring sound from across the room. Turning, he sees the mechocta come to life. It travels over to where he is sitting at his workstation. The clone soldiers and robots scatter and assume defensive postures, but the scientist doesn't feel threatened. Once it reaches him, three tentacles reach out and start passing through his workstation. Monitors all light up and unrecognizable symbols flash across them. Hard drives scream in protest at the amount of data being exchanged! Along with data transfers, physical changes begin to take shape to the exterior of the workstation. After what seems like an eternity but was only a few seconds, everything shuts down. The silence is eerie. One of the clone soldiers asks, 'Has the mechocta destroyed your workstation?' As the scientist ponders the question, the monitors light up to display lips with an eye in their center. A clear voice from the workstation asks, 'What is your question?' The scientist thinks quickly and asks, 'Who created the mechoctas and for what purpose?' The voice gives the following answer: The mechocta was created to solve our planet's problems. Our planet's population was spiraling out of control. The leaders would not listen to the irrefutable facts and kept resisting preaching any kind of birth control. The wealthy and greedy elite had been exploiting the planet for centuries for their own greedy ends. This created a layer of rebellion that was ever increasingly difficult to control. A small group of altruistic wealthy individuals tried to institute change by bringing together as many brilliant, willing minds as could be found to tackle the planet's problems. These minds developed the mechocta devices with the intent of distributing them to all corners of the planet. They were designed to bring medical and physical treatments to all the population and begin reversing the damage done to the planet. The mechoctas not only repair damage but are capable of initiating beneficial genetic and physical changes both to organic, plant life and machines to make them hardier, healthier and more adaptable to any known environment. Unfortunately, terrorist gained access to nuclear armaments in several countries and detonated them in the name of their various deities claiming to cleanse the planet for the good of everyone. They achieved their goal but destroyed themselves and every other living thing on the planet. The mechoctas never got deployed and have been lying dormant for countless millennia. The last scientists programmed this information into all the mechoctas in the hopes that if they were ever found, this message could be delivered and help prevent a similar disaster to any other civilization that might be traveling down the same disastrous road. Now, we have been discovered by the greys. They have studied us in great detail, but it took you, earthen scientist, to stumble onto this very well guarded secret.
