I would have been kicked out... the urge to play the xylophone on those would have been too much.

With a big tub o slaw and I'm a happy man. Looks like it would make a great jail cell for a Neanderthal. Outstanding light and detail. Your compositional skills are superb.

I really like Mark's reference to 'ribs' ("with a big tub o slaw"): Being vegetarian, it's not the first image I'd come up with, lol, but for a rib eater, this could be a real treat. Also, I'd like to comment right after him, when he writes, "Your compositional skills are superb": I'd like to write, "nope---they suck!" BUT---I'll skip the cheap jokes, and get to the comment...Here, you didn't leave space to either side, and it's just right: These are lit up like great pipes on a pipe organ, They seem like the ribs of a deep cave. You do have space here---in the lower right---and it gives a shape to this cascade of bones. I know you're dealing with light from the museum; but I know how you commune with light, and you've treated it beautifully here. And with those lit bones in the upper background, and that mess of stuff on the far right (in the background), this has depth too---I say that, because the 'main' thrust of the shot is those bones in front, which seem like a big harp-like display. I can see this sight captured you, and made you want to go into it over and over. There's an old Rabbinical saying, which says (of the Torah): "Turn it over and over, for everything is in it, look into it, grow old over it, and never move away from it, for you will find no better wisdom than it..." That's what it feels like when you take one subject and explore it many times over: finding new light each time you peer into it, new revelations...Beautifully done once again.

At first, I thought you and Bill were just really, really hungry...... I guess that comes from living in the Kansas City area - they do BBQ ribs here from time to time, ya know..... :-D I love the depth you've achieved here, Tara. This is outstanding! You've taken perfect advantage of the lighting the museum has used on these 'bones' and really made a lovely work of art with it.

Ooh, I like this; I was just in conversation with a Russian, (not the Russian, however) and he was telling me about how there are people in the backwater regions of Siberia who have developed a cottage industry of carving mammoth bones that they find. Siberia is full of mammoth bones and mummified mammoths (one of which has made something of a celebrity-sized splash as it's now on tour to various museums...it's a post-mortal baby mammoth in excellent condition, if you ignore the crimped trunk.) I love the light in this photo as well as the nice, warm golden tones. I love the fact that you're showing a fragment rather than the whole deal; there is such detailing, such texture! I love this image. Hmmm...and while I'm on the topic of rambling, mammoth ribs made good building material back in "cave man days." People lived in huts that were basically mammoth ribcages covered with sod and stuff. This has nothing to do that that, but hey, in an alternate universe it is related. In short, I love this shot. It's making a trip into my favorites.
