Description

Well, after a couple of days, the all new B-29 is moving along nicely. I finally tracked down Tailspin and asked about the engines for 'the beast'....he promptly vanished!! He'd only gone and forgotten the only job I gave him......other than making coffee. That was this morning, I was pleasantly surprised therefore, when at 15:00 a lorry pulled up with 4 reconditioned Wrights Double Cyclones on board. I had to shake Tailspins hand and ask " How the hell "!... it seems he found them on E-Bay, a barn find in Yokohama....$99.00 each and free delivery. Then we had to wait 6 bloody hours... I could have strangled him, still...we're on track for first flight by tomorrow p.m but I'LL be taking this one up myself......Tailspin's not so bad I suppose....but he's still got a few questions to answer.........

tailspin may answer your questions, but it will be up to you to determine if he is telling the truth

Looking at the cabin reminds me of a personal experience (please indulge me.) A number of years ago I got a personal invite to sit in the pilots seat of a B-29 at Beale AFB here in Northern California. The fuselage really is round. At the time I was 6ft 7in tall (I am down a bit from there - old age). Needless to say I had to bend sideways in order to sit so as not to bang my head on the wall (LOL). Anyway, can't wait for you and Tailspin to finish up this bird. Keep 'em flying.

LoL!! that is so cool Dave, good job you didn't go for the job in 1944, you'd have been limited to open cockpit planes... Kingfisher off a carrier maybe?....

Oh I dunno Neil. In Dave's case they could have made one of those glass domes for a bit of extra head room :-)
