after 7 years i'm finally getting around in adding some info on this page. never really thought about doing it. i have been a member here since July 15th 2006, and have learned alot from fellow artists. i would have about 1300 images or so posted but have deleated many of my first pieces. and still consider myself a developing artist at this wonderful site. i'm 56 years old this year "2013" and was born in North Dakota. i have lived in Colorado since 1967 and enjoy this place alot. my stepfather was in the air force and we lived in Bermuda after North Dakota for a few years before coming here where he got stationed.. and so much enjoy many of the finest artist in the world who post here.. love you all and your amazing friendships we share.. lol Steve
i enjoy working with poser, i have such a dinosaur version i use, (p6) wish i had poser 2012 at least. i also use photoshop 7 for most of my work i post here. but more so photography is my main passion, just hope to get a camera again someday.

p.s. not sure how high of a res pic i'm using for this page. take care and thanks a million you all.

Great render ! As for the RAM, if your motherboard has on board video, then it probably doesn't have dedicated video ram. In a nutshell, the 640 megs that are missing might be getting allocated to the video. Does it say 3.29 in system information, or does it say 3.29 in the bios ? If it shows up in bios, then chances are the on board video (if applicable) is stealing it.

Great image with cute characters. Sounds like you are running a 32 bit version of Windows, so unfortunately it won't be able to use all 4 GB of RAM. If you right click on My Computer and look around in properties it should say somewhere in there. Your best bet to avoid crashes is probably decreasing bucket size and/or lowering the number of threads in Edit -> General Preferences -> Render if it's currently higher than 1.

The shading is beautiful - I like the color - great scene!!!

Huakiami is right. With a 32 bit system Windows will only recognize something like 3029 Mb and so you are probably maxed out right now. Decreasing bucket size and number of threads will mean all your available memory will be focused on one small part of the render and so will be less likely to run out of memory at any given moment. As I said before your renders are way bigger than you need to post here, reducing to 1500 pixels on large edge should reduce the amount of memory you need. Render at 72 dpi. Also in render menu, set minimum shading rate to 0.1 or higher, like 0,5. This will free up memory. Very cute render. I am empathetic with your frustration... you finally are able to get a better system and it still doesn't work right. That just makes you want to cry.

Very Lovely !!!!!!

Wonderful Valentines scene and actors Steve. Windows will unfortunately always eat some of the 4GB - especially if you happen to run the 32-bit version, as huakiami suspects.

1-is the BIOS recognising the 4 gigs??. the operating system (i bet you have windows 32-bit)will only recognise a bit more than 3 gigs anyway no matter how much ram you put in. the 64-bit operating systems recognise up to 32 gigs or more.(i think i wrote this already once do you ever read bro??lol)

Very nice scene Steve with beautiful colors !

nice image. Is your system 32 bits Windows ? If yes : you can't address more then 4 Gb. (2 power 32 is 4 294 967 296) But system needs ram for other things and then you are limited to +/- 3.3 Gb, sometimes less.
