Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Just amazing shot and postwork! I have never found the solarising effect suited anything much, It works excellently on this subject and environment!

People will need those poxy things surgically removed from their heads, how the ignorance factor has flourished since these were invented eh? I have see people at dinner tables texting? Great shot and treatment though Andrea!

It always amazes me how a person on the phone is somehow more worthy of attention than a friend standing there with you. I once watched two women go through an entire meal, each talking on their cell phones and all they said to each other was their initial greeting and a goodbye. As for the photo, the postwork is great, It really brings out the people from the background and I like the large negative space of the composition. I think the polarization helps in that respect.

this is so true of the younger generation as they turn more and more to the tech and the not so social media rather than the actual social intereaction Great postwork

Fantastic capture. The filter effect looks really interesting. I suppose the lady also has a smart phone in her jacket and it could ring the next moment. So are the young people, available always and everywhere.

There is a cartoon somewhere that shows a couple sitting across the table from each other at breakfast. They are both texting....each other! To steal from T.S. Eliot, "This is the way the world ends, not with a bang, but a text message." Terrific post work and I agree, the empty space on the right makes for a great composition. The lady does not look especially happy.

He does seem to be paying more attention to his iPhone than his 'friend'. Delightful postwork!!!!!
