It takes a lot of practice! Once you are locked on though it isn't so bad. The tricky part is initially finding it in your viewfinder before the action starts.

TOP CLASS! This is a real challenge for speed and control of your gear! I presume you had the lens in a gimble head to deal with the wieght!

Thank you! I did but I have also shot this bird on different days hand held. I actually like/prefer handholding but for longer distances the gimbal is nice once you get used to panning with it. For birds that are closer, zinging right by I prefer handholding. (Almost like shooting skeet with a shotgun)
