While I was working on this piece, I wanted to experiment with different scene setups, clothed vs. nude, lighting and postwork. For this version, I thought candles would be fun and was so impressed by CHK2033's skull prop with candle. The wax looks so drippy and the subsurface scattering of the material he used was just incredible, that it pretty much drove the rest of the composition. The candles in The Vampire Cradle by mytilus worked perfect for filling in the rest of the scene. I also attached the candle halos from Sage Babylon by fabiana, which I thought added a nice, subtle touch. Getting all the candles to look somewhat uniform in color with all the different point lights proved trickier than I was expecting. This is the only version where you can fully see the background, Crypt of the Damned by Aako, which was part of my original spark for this composition and creates such a wonderful dark ominousness.
