"Bribed with a little sunlight and a few prismatic tints, we bless our Maker, and stave off his wrath with hymns"
- Henry David Thoreau - A Week on the Concord and Merrimack Rivers (1849).
Hello All!
This shot was taken at a local woodland (about two miles from home) named Judy Woods during the first week of February this year.
Judy Woods is a complex of woodlands near Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. Individual woodlands in the complex include Jagger Park Wood, Royds Hall Great Wood, Old Hanna Wood, Doctor Wood and Low Wood. The name comes from Judy North, also know locally as "Gurt Judy", who lived in a cottage situated within the woods near Horse Close Bridge in the 1850s and 60s (this is coincidently around the same time as Henry David Thoreau's quote was written, albeit on a different continent). It is claimed that the whole area was once covered in trees and part of Bryanscholes Forest which itself was part of a forest extending as far as, and including, the world famous Sherwood Forest.
I have used 3 differently blended exposures of the same RAW file in this image as well as a touch of dodge and burn and a slight saturation boost.
Thanks for looking and any comments and critique are, as always, more than welcome and valued!

I'm glad it's not just my photos that have odd colours unless zoomed. i was starting to think there is something wrong with my PC.... a beautiful result to your efforts anyhow. I'm interested in Judy being described as "Gurt". When I lived in Bristol, when a girl liked a boy he was described as "gurt lush" meaning mighty fine, although the phrase could equally be applied to a doner kebab!! (www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=gurt+lush). Not sure if this translates in Yorkshire!!

In "Old Yorkshire" the word gurt means big or fat - not a complimentary title but a descriptive one!

A great picture, Carl, with a mix of lovely colors. I love that green on the stones and the complex complex tree roots. It must be great to live in this area.
