Description

So, after all the ice melted, we then had an 8 inch snow last night. Some of you may be used to this, but this is not normal here. Anyway, I have become quite enamored with these little Goldfinch's. They are changing into their summer yellow coats. As my fingers freeze, I keep going because I love these little guys. They have such beautiful faces.

I often wonder how these little critters can maintain body temperature when it gets real cold. Yet they do, and survive. The feathers must be very insulating, but, he's all puffed up. Biggest problem is finding enough food, as keeping warm uses up so much energy. They don't fly much when it's cold. Nice photo of this little fellow. They are so fascinating. Keep up the good work! :-)
