Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Whenever you mention a fox I fear Ralph has been at it again. What a beautiful animal. You can see how alert it is, direct gaze and ears forward. An outstanding capture, Andrea.

I wish we could have domesticated foxes...they're such...um...vulpine...creatures and this one is no exception! Just look at that face! Just look at those eyes! But then, considering their singing voices, I can kinda see why they might not have been domesticated! Ah...what voices! What a photo as well! This is a gorgeous creature! Apparently, they really like tummy rubs; there's a YouTube video I need to find...I'll share it with you when I find it. This is a fantastic shot! I wouldn't mind neighbors like this, and I guess I'd even be willing to put up with their singing. I love this.

A beautiful red fox. We see foxes here from time to time, but they tend to flee quickly in the presence of humans. A few years ago, we were having problems with a destructive raccoon, so we set up a live trap baited with peanut butter. Apparently foxes like peanut butter too, as on the first two nights, we trapped two different foxes. That gave us our first opportunity to observe them up close, but we let them go quickly, as they were pretty agitated (understandably) at being imprisoned. Never did catch the raccoon, but he apparently got tired of gnawing on our garage...
