Description

I've mentioned previously a special 332nd Fighter Group image I'm working on for later this month. I found myself in need of a B-17 Flying Fortress, some time ago I purchased Digimations very fine example but there's a snag....I just can't live with the colour. Simple answer....re-texture....not so simple, I came to the conclusion it would be quicker to build my own....and so I set The Plant on overtime and this is the result... it can be configured as an F or G variant and comes in OD or Bare Metal livery. I still need to build the flightdeck and then we'll see if Tailspin or Wrongway wins the fight to deliver it........Open day for the local media at The Plant tomorrow, I just hope everyone behaves......somehow I doubt it :-)

Excellent work! A little competition is good but this much may end in disaster.

"Count on me gobbling someone up if that someone misbehaves!" - T.Rex. You are phenomenal, Neil! Making a complete B17 because the texture doesn't fit properly! That's hard to get around. And the model looks great. Now to see who punches who in the face to get to fly this baby to cgshare's airfield! Keep up the good work! You're apparently back to the good ol' Neil from before your illness! :-)

I also have the Digimation B-17 and found it unsuitable for close ups. I cannot wait to see yours and thanks for the great scene and model!

I agree mate, I have the Digimation Harrier and the texture layout is an absolute nightmare so I can understand why you decided to make your own model. Looks cool :-)

Hey, Neil. I've been waiting for someone to do a presentable B-17 so I can do a tribute for my dad and his crew of the "Jersey Bounce, Jr." Hope you got all the turrets located correctly and the proportions right (LOL). Looks pretty good from here.

Having seen a glimpse of some paint work for this, I'm going to like this one.. Some models out there are very average while others are brilliant and allot of care has obviously gone into making them.. Trouble is you can't tell until you get it! Keep it up mate, yours are some of the very best. Rob
