She is quite lovely, Nikolai. A wonderful portrait. It looks as if you surprised her. I looked for your exhibit on the Internet but could not find it. Would you be able to post the link here? I'm sure many of us would love to see more of your work.

A beautiful inward portrait. I remember when you told us of the loss of your daughter, and how devastating it was. I assume it's still a huge presence in your life, even if the worst intensity is over. It must be a huge wave, a rupture in the cosmos that resonates forever after. It's a beautiful image, with the kind of mystery we all expect from you, with a glimpse into a whole soul...with wonderful and a soft but strong light shining on her from beyond the frame. And the surroundings are so spare, they allow her to be the great 'event', the real center of this image, of this universe...The levels of chipped paint and peeling wall show age, and that life has been here many times before; and she stands in the middle of it, as much in mystery as light, staring with deep penetrating eyes. It's beautiful, Nikolay, and a moving tribute to someone you loved very much. I hope that her spirit is with you always, lifting life's burdens from invisible places. I think, with a portrait like this, you're showing how alive she is inside you. Very moving work and remembrance of Sonya...

Mark, thanks a lot for your deepest as ever comment. However, Sonya is my younger one. Captured last August when we were together (and her husband, too) on the coast. She's going to become a mother early June. The one who left us is (never was) Lena. I am so glad you liked this one as I hardly ever shoot portraits.

She is Beautiful! Aloha

How nice of you Nikolay, to present us also with a portrait of your younger daughter Sonya, I am getting to know your family - bit by bit - (even if only from afar) but always remembering Lena, who is such a big part, but ephemeral moment from your life ... as a Mother myself - I could tell the signs of Sonya going to be a Mother and it's something so distinct, as if surrounded by a special glow, you captured her here so proudly, as only a Father and photographer can - I wish her well ... (after all, I am a June baby ;)) - an old one, of course!) BB apologies, this comment is arriving late Nikolay, - must have somehow missed this one, by being far too busy, as usual ...

A beautiful woman, Kolya. Intriguing pose, challenging expression, and mysterious lighting. Well done!!!
