As always, an image worth pausing with and sitting with. I have to admit that I had a somewhat atypical reaction to this image. It's because of the jars. As a child, an empty jar was always a potential terrarium for the containment of nice mosses, fungi and little "creepy crawlies," usually woodlice. Getting past that, however, I must say that I love this image for all of the reasons that have nothing to do with captive crustaceans. The light is superb, and the shadows are alive and intriguing. I love the shapes: glass is so supple in this image and the light is so pure! As always, this is brilliant!

What a superb still life, absolutely luminous, with just a hint of what is beyond the window. Outstanding art.

Your particular sense of vision is mesmerizing; subtle, slightly dark, and incredibly captivating. Stunning shot!

I am learning more than ever, by what you are presenting here to all of us, especially with this image and all the other artworks before this one, Nikolay - I feel so privileged by visiting your galleries here for free and I would happily pay for your art - it's always new and so very inspiring to me and by the time you have put the final touches to your photography, you make it look all so easy and so appealing to the eyes, I am in awe ... this is illuminating and has your unmistakable flair stamp on it ! and it inspires me to better myself, somehow ? Thank you for sharing it ;)) BB

A beautiful tribute by Brigitte, above. I second what she says. I continue to learn from your vision, and your articulation of it so brilliantly "on paper". A powerful image, beautiful for what it doesn't show as much as what it does. The jars are almost apparitions---but in your inimitable way, they have total clarity and presence. (Not an easy pair of qualities to achieve.) The sun is present in its reflections---quite strong and bleached. And the rest? darkness in varying degrees. An image that emerges out of the dark, the glass seems a very clear statement of "I am" in the midst of it. And the jars, here, feel like a statement, strong and clear. You're always brilliant at bringing out the spirit of even the most inert objects. And here, that spirit is like a thin clear melody line, crystalline and delicate as air. Beautiful work, Nikolay.
