Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Me and my shadow - Strolling down the avenue - go Ralph!

very sweet shot of Ralph, who seems unfazed by his shadow, even though it's formidable. In this light, we can see the golden oranges of his coat. (And I like the collars you use---I always have.) The light is eerie, like he's doing shadow puppetry. Or like he's against one of those silkscreens that the Chinese used to do shadow work against, in shows. It's an eerie piece, with the shadow acting like his alter ego, while he is more sedate, contemplating something off frame. Always love to see your dog shots. This one is unusual, and I really like it. I know that dog videos can get to be reeeealllly corny, but this one is worth it---speaking of dogs checking-out their shadows. This video doesn't have a shadow, but rather a reflection. And at 25 seconds, it's one of the best of its kind. If I didn't know this was a corgi, I'd guess this dog knew the Marx Bros, from the famous mirror scene in Duck Soup (I think). Trust me, it's not just another dog/cat pawing the piano. It's really delightful. It's here (YouTube): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86HEe5WRFFI
