Hi everybody,
My name is Dana Pommet and my wife’s name is Josephine. I was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts, in 1942, and except for a tour in the Navy, lived there for most of my life. I retired to Delray Beach, Florida in December 2000. We love to travel and photography goes hand and hand with that. I went digital about 5 years ago and started posting November 22, 2008. I have met so many wonderful people on RR and that makes this whole process so much more interesting than just posting photos. Thanks for all the comments and keep them coming.
Update  January 2012: After hiding and denying my mild Dyslexia, for most of my professional life, and now fighting with its advancement – I want to thank you all for putting up with my poor typing skills and spelling problems. I know that my spell checker hates me and I now depend completely on audio books rather then actually reading printed books.  Life marches on!  ÂÂ

We call them DIETES, it's more like an Iris, not quite a Lily and I have got them growing in abundance on our land and you cannot kill them ... ;)) and Butterflies love them - some more info below from our own Don Burke (TV presenter & gardener) - enjoy Dana ! BB Common name: Dietes Botanic name: Dietes iridioides Description: A clump-forming, rhizomatous perennial from South Africa. It has dark green, strappy foliage, which grows in fan-like rosettes. In spring it produces white, yellow and mauve, iris-like flowers on tall stems. The flowers are followed by 3-celled capsules containing numerous seeds. Best climate: Dietes grows in most areas of Australia.

Thanks Brigitte, I went back and took a better look. The leaves are much thinner than a lily's leaves. Nice call on your part. Thanks again!!!!

The spots look like butterflies and adds a nice contrast of color - I'm sure they are there to attract pollinators and not for looks but it makes for a very beautiful flower - great capture Dana!!!

I love these little daylilies; I used to have a big stand of these in my garden in California. Lovely capture!

What fabulous flowers, and great recording you share with us. So rare, a little bit like violets, but with more detail. I've never seen them before. Somehow they also look a bit like an Orchid, huh? In one word: "wonderful." Again a lesson learned today, and thanks for sharing and for describe them, Dana. I wish you and Jo a very fine Sunday (at least here it is Sunday afternoon).
