UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Four months is too long, Bill - you & Tara are missed here - it's great to see you both posting today! This is a fine subtle abstract - it doesn't shout at you begging for attention, but rather slyly draws you in with it's elegant & delicate visual charms. I'm sure Mark will appreciate both it's beauty & your sentiment...

Nice to hear from you Bill and great to know you are still in the land of the living !!

Nice to see you post again, Bill. I've been wondering how you've been and what's up. I know Tara's been having visual problems and I've thus assumed this has affected you. Hope you're back now. As for this photo, it's very poignant. More in this than just "foot prints in the sands of time". The ripples in the sand say a bit about the quality and durability of the sand, requiring a good heavy foot to disturb its surface. The low light and almost monochrome color add a lot to the atmosphere - early morning? Late evening? Can be interpreted either way. Keep up the good work! :-) PS - my regards to Tara!

A great quote and a very enigmatic image!

it's a great surprise and delight to see you here, and equally that you did this for my birthday. The image itself is dark and beautiful, and your silver-aqua-green tint is beautiful. The tracks do speak of journeying, but they're surrounded by beauty that's as important as the destination...something very big in this image. Ie, beautiful waves in the sand, deep etched shadows, a few spindle-lights of branches, a fascinating set of 'crawling' configurations in the upper right, etc. A very fine visual and study of the mystery and life of sand and its shadows and lights. As for the quote...there's a long narrative in the Talmud that begins (paraphrased), "because of a locust and a son-of-a-locust, Jerusalem was destroyed..." Takes explaining, but the gist of it is this: A mere locust can cause someone to drop something, which in turn can cause them to break something very important, which---through many, many steps---can wind up starting a war. Something like that. It means that even a momentous event can be spurred off by a very small one. But then the opposite can be said as well: Even a grain of sand can make one realize they're walking the wrong way, and change their life forever. I love the quote (and am mildly familiar with Service, who I know brought northern canada and the yukon to life in a very entertaining way). It's that even huge events may not have any more impact on our lives than the tiny ones, the ones in front of our faces. In other words, look at the tiny things, they contain everything in them...Your image is beautiful, and a reminder that beauty is in a lot of places besides the path we're actually on. It's beautiful, bill, thank you so much for coming out of retirement (let me call it that for fun!) to do this for me, thank you so much. And I wish all the best for you and for Tara. Thank you so much for this gift. It's great to see you back here.

I am just one of the many and agreeing with everybody - your absence here it's been too 'ruddy' long Bill ... but this not about us here, it's about this fine dedication for Mark on another one of his Birthday anniversaries ! ... it's simply divine what you have created here, a very 'organic' looking image - (I think I used the same words for Tara's dedi ?) LOL, but then again it's probably the reason you two have found each other, being so like-minded and on the same wavelength, when it comes to photography to say the least - because I don't know you both well enough to say this - but you both have a good eye (should be eyes!) for the beauty you see in and being surrounded by nature ;)) I wish I were only half as good as you guys - but I am only a beginner but learning from the great here ;P Thank you Bill and I hope Mark doesn't mind this little rave - after all he is the 'ZEN master' and 'da Spin-doctor' ;)) BB
