"You haven't seen a tree until you've seen its shadow from the sky." -- Amelia Earhart
“You don't take a photograph, you make it.” - - Ansel Adams
UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Looks like some fall colours there, is this a recent shot? One can only hope... :) Beautiful capture, I see you haven't lost any of your good shooting skills!

Outstanding

Welcome back with this wonderful capture of the slightly roaring river amidst the deep forest environs, Bill. I understand the mountains of Washington State are practically sans snow, so, until you get some good old winter weather back, it might be a while before the river recovers its ability to roar again.

Beautiful! The start of a lovely trip, as I recall. :) One of the benefits of leaving so late in the year is chasing Autumn across the country. This is superb!

well everyone here says it's great to see you back, and this is a wonderful shot---so I'M gonna say: Where the hell were ya, and the shot sucks. (I hope I'm the last person to comment, I'll die if anyone reads this.) Ok, the shot's terrific, and it's great to see you back! It really is. And yes, the shot's wonderful. You got all those trees as a big tapestry of verticals. I don't know how you did that, but the light and shade emphasize the lines of the branches and leaves (and needles), and it's like a big fire behind the water, only in greens. In fact, the yellows and oranges behind really DO look like flame. It's cropped in just the right way so we're thrown into the morass of all those intense trees. And the shot opens up in the river, cascading away---actually it looks pretty gentle, but the bright lights on it, and the foam, make it a big opening rushing 'mouth'. Intuitively perfect, and a great way to pop in and say hello to everyone again. And it's a Bill shot through and through, btw---I can't explain that, but it has your quality all over it, like fine wine. We even get a glimpse of how far back those trees go...Wonderful! I hope you're doing well, Bill, and I hope you keep photographing from time to time, because even after all this time, you haven't lost a thing. This is wonderful. (Now if you'd posted an absolutely AWFUL shot, THAT would've been comedy! Leaving everyone thinking, "man, he's reeeeeeealllllly lost it! He's not even close...")

A fantastic shot anyway, but those little bits of luminous orange & yellow peeking through the trees at the far end of this shot are the icing on the cake that really put it over the top for me...
