Description
While the Far East Café may be an example of how some things never change, downtown Los Angeles had drastically changed since my last visit.
While the area had once been home to immigrants from Mexico and Central America with small markets, discount houses and taquerias, it had rapidly gentrified, forcing the Hispanic community to move further east. Old warehouses were rehabbed and turned into trendy loft apartments. A thriving arts colony had established itself complete with boutique shops and new restaurants.
Even the graffiti had changed with gang tags giving way to ironic commentary on the meaning of life or broadsides advertising the latest rave or millennial club.
I liked this image because it reminded me of 'The Scream' by Edvard Munch, circa 1893.

I don't think that I would like to live in a place like that - I've always been used to the 'quiet' life !!

I like the little image, but I still haven't got used to the defacing of objects and surfaces which much graffiti amounts to.
