Description
This is the last shot of the parade. Although I still have a lot of photos of it, but otherwise it gets boring. These firefighters who are already retired built this tandem bicycle from old parts of fire trucks and ladders. Obviously they had a lot of fun to ride at the parade.

The firemen are having a ball riding on that fabulous tandem bicycle. But are those the actual helmets they use to fight fires? If so, I've never seen ones like that. Look more like German WWII helmets.

The helmets are quite old and nostalgic. Nowadays, the firefighters have a completely different equipment.

Wonderful! What an ingenious mode of transportation! @goodoleboy- the helmets are indeed inspired by the Stahlhelm design, but more of the WW I period, and lacked the side bolts for securing the trench frontal armor plate addition the military versions would have had. Also many of the fireman helmets had about 6 little holes on either side for better ventilation and better hearing. You can also see on these helmets the insignia of the fire department. It is similar in ways to which US civil defense people of the WW II home front era wore the old WW I flat plate helmets of the "doughboys".
