Greetings to the people of Earth.
I've always wanted to say that! Now that I did, I can now get on with other things.
I'm a science fiction writer (not famous yet) born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. I've lived in the Czech Republic and Germany, and though I am currently back in Chicago, much of my heart remains in the Czech Republic. Maybe it's the beer. Or the bread. I hope to live in Moscow soon, as a big portion of my heart already resides there. I've had an interest in science fiction since an early age and will probably maintain that interest for the rest of my life. I love SF, and anything else that embraces the spirit of discovery...or anything that chafes against the arbitrary boundaries of "conformity."Â
I discovered Renderosity a couple of years back when I was browsing the internet, looking for cool images to spark my imagination during a period of writer's block. It wasn't a serious block, but I needed something to make me ask the sorts of questions that I always ask before settling down to craft a short story or novella. Since that time, I've written quite a lot and I've begun to post photographs and other visual works that I created here...partially because I love the Renderosity community in general, and partially because the images and text-snippets that I have contributed here are something of an ongoing journal. I'm incredibly lazy when it comes to journal keeping, and so posting picures of particular significance actually helps me to remember the things I want to remembe, without having to eat into my fiction writing time by writing non fiction. Well, at least that's my excuse and I am sticking with it.
I entered into the field of photography totally by accident; I'd always been interested in capturing small stories, but it wasn't until my journey to Europe that I began to consciously seek out tableaus that imply stories in progress. As a result of that, my writing is growing in unexpected directions, and I look forward to becoming more and more active here, and in other artistic/publishing fields.
For those looking at my gallery, enjoy it and feel free to leave comments and sitemail! Good day to all!

Very interesting and colourful capture. I'd hate to be the one on the scaffolding cleaning those window, though in part it would be interesting to see what happens inside...hmmm? I wish you and yours a Happy Easter

A handsome building. It makes me think of giant prism. I suspect, deep down, that is what many modern architects are seeking to create. I'm no certain where this drive comes from. Maybe it is the illusion of translucence and/or transformation of elemental forces (sunlight) by the influence of their creations. I've seen this trend in Toronto too. More and more, glassy prisms have been springing up especially in the downtown area. And yes, I too wonder how it is all kept so clean.

Amazing capture my friend. God bless.

Your great pic makes art of this soull destroying building. I could neither live or work in such a structure, or even where I could see it because it overpowers me and almost stops me breathing ! If I lived in a city I should have been consigned to the funny farm years ago.

A very interesting image, with all the patterns and the rhythm that are there! Living in a city could be stressing, but there is also so many life and people, that you sure never get bored. As Neil Diamond say, "It's got a beautiful beat"

A great capture. Nice gemstone colors, emerald and lapis with a little gold thrown in. Even dirty glass looks better than marble and stone covered in decades of grime although with not as much character.

Big buildings are so weird; I mean they take up so much space, house a gazzillion people doing who knows what, and yet there's something so compelling about them. You caught all that here for sure!!

I can see why you wanted to get that picture, those colors make it look magnificent! Incidentally, the io9 website recently had a video clip of some window-washers getting tossed around by powerful winds when they tried to clean a really tall building like this one.

The glass in this light is lovely; I have a love-hate relationship with skyscrapers. Photographically I love them, but I hate being around them physically...

Well, I can see how beautiful they can look, these tall sky scrapers, as we also call them here. And on distance they are even more beautiful, but i doublt i woulsd like to live in them. This is a really superb shot, Chip.

Fabulous! I'm reminded of Canary Wharf in London - the whole area is nothing but steel and glass. It's beautiful and yet soulless, all at the same time.
