Description

In nearly every culture, a magistrate is an officer of the state, a volunteer citizen or appointed subject given the task of hearing cases in trbunals. This post, though it has roots in ancient Rome, differs greatly from the ancient Roman designation. In Imperial Rome, a magistratus was one of the highest government officers and wielded both judicial and executive powers. The ancient Roman magistratus is virtually unknown in the modern world. Though there are exceptions to this rule: for example, the American city of Chicago maintains a significant body of such officers. They wield considerable influence and are recognized as the moving force behind contemporary politicians. Indeed, the presence of any single magistratus sends distinct psychic ripples through any given area of the city at any given time: such is the power they hold. I was given the rare opportunity to photograph such an esteemed person: the image here is the end result of that beneficent gesture by an undoubtedly powerful, and busy, Esteemed Personage: shown here wearing the elegant colors of office. As always, thank you for viewing, reading, and commenting, and I hope you've all had a great weekend, a great Easter Weekend for those who celebrate the holiday.

A beautiful model and excellent capture! All the politicians in my country believe that can be proud of having the IQ necessary to emulate this worthy character. Isn't true, of course! :)

He carries himself with great dignity and is obviously a snappy dresser. Of course, even a magistrate must make way for the emperor. It seems Chicago is set to re-elect its emperor but, who knows, maybe the rebel forces will prevail.

He certainly DOES look esteemed! I can see him now, reviewing the troops or making an impassioned political speech. He also looks "in season", and ready to keep the ladies happy. This bird is one bad muthah-- ( Shut yo mouth!) --Just talkin' 'bout Shaft!
