Description
The women come to Jesus' tomb in the morning and are greeted by an angel who invites them to see the empty tomb.
From the Lund cathedral Easter landscape. The figure is made by a woman in the congregation. I find her choice of dress and appearance to be rather interesting, being different than the "usual" concept of what an angel "should" look like.
Also, the light inside the tomb is also interesting. The whole landscape follows the medieval concept where what has happened over time is compressed into one scene. The light of the resurrection is thus shown despite it occurring before the women arrived.
Also of note, the 16 Roman soldiers guarding the tomb have fainted in terror, awoken and run off, so they're not visible in the landscape. The interesting thing with them is that THEY were the ones who witnessed the resurrection! And then ran off to tell the chief priests, who then bribed Pontius Pilate to spare the soldier's lives. Yet, the chief priests still refused to believe. "We made a big mistake. Let's cover it up." So typically human. Anyone recognize this from politics today?
Enjoy!

A very wonderful scene - and you captured it perfectly! Indeed - politics seems to be the one constant in the universe......Sadly...
