Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

A highly lit but deep dark facade shot, with very strong contrasts between both. I dont know how you got that rich shadow, but it sets off the lights very strongly. It almost looks like a strip in a gambling town (like old vegas or reno, before the massive hotels---or maybe like the side streets). The fish in the lower center really anchors the shot, as does the "Light House" sign and the lit exterior under "Fishermen's Grotto". Lots of dark above that. And then a blast of light sky. Real contrasts...And the sign on the far left kind of takes us into the shot, by its angle. Very creatively seen. I'd have never thought about these contrasts, but they make it seem like a night shot taken in the day, very dramatic. Hope you have more from this great city---your shots of it have been wonderful.
