Description
Famed actress/comedienne Lucille Ball, shown on a float trading quips with her many fans in the crowd, captured back on 8/26/07, just a small part of a long parade commemorating the 50th birthday anniversary of our semi fair city.

A beautiful reminder of a star, though it was not as well-known in Europe. Superb shot!

well I'll start by doing more pieces I haven't commented on, from past days/weeks...Amazing that Lucille Ball is actually out on a float like this. She looks just like she used to, only older, of course. Sweetly composed, with her in the center, but everything else on an angle---the angle gives it counterpoint and balance. Really nice how the pole on her left (our right) cuts off part of her, while she "continues" to the other side via her dress. And the air conditioner behind her is positioned exactly in the fold in her dress. (You couldn't have set it up better in a studio.) And it's framed on the left with that arch, and grounded with the flowers below. (Great to see that ladder there, lol---just stickin' out like someone put it there and forgot to get rid of it.) Even the gutter pipe is lined up with the edge of the frame: Very well composed. Quick work, Harry, 'cause shooting moving floats ain't easy, and this looks thought-out and posed ahead of time, which of course it isn't. It brings back memories, too, as I grew up on I Love Lucy...
