Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

What a wonderful mix of colors and shapes. Just beautiful. Perhaps you ran a Victorian flower shop in a previous life.

Stunning colours, and your epimedium have a lot more going on in their centers than the ones I've seen here. Bright and beautiful!!!!

I'm skipping back again to get more of the older pieces I haven't commented on yet. When this went up, I remember the power of the white, how it set off the bouquet, and how the frosted windows atop acted like stained glass behind it all. But on second inspection, I appreciate your angle even more, because it looks like the flowers are all reaching up to greet us. A joyous big reception of stems, flowers, and different hues and shapes, with lots of spaces between them, as we move up. It's framed for the angles too---just an exuberant beautiful capture of reaching flowers, with your acute design sense giving us the perfect background. So bright. More beautiful still life work from you, Andrea.

Btw, I've said this many times, but my knowledge of plant names bites the grand wazoo. Denise called these "epidemiums"? (I don't have her comment in front of me, 'cause when you comment on a comment, all other comments disappear.) Why didn't I know that name, whatever it is? Ya know, you people could all be making these up, just picking heavy-sounding latin words, and it could be a big conspiracy for the 2 or 3 of us here who don't know squat about botany. It's humiliating. I don't wanna start a fight, but I'm not happy about this. (You post flowers with names like "Carmelia St. George," or "Orchidius Demetrius' Mistress". I never knew any of those names before I came here.)

A beautiful color combination and the Blue Bells are delightful!
