Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

After 16 times I think we can stop suggesting it is rude to stare and just enjoy the experience. You have a marvelous ability to bring a smile to one's face.

Lol, Mark---well by me, it's ok if you keep calling it "rude to stare" because it's part of the whole ambiance of these terrific drawings. (I was going to say "gestalt" instead of "ambiance," but "gestalt" and "weltanschauung" are words we used in college to sound veddddy intellectual, so I stay away from them for fear of losing lots of friends. "Ambiance" has problems too, mind you, but I'll forgive it. "Mise en scene" is the worst---I'll make you a list---but to get back, the title is part of the fun of these pieces; which I say with bows to Mark, who's one of our best commenters...) I love how you often stick in someone, in the back, with a completely different expression. I LOVE that guy. HE'S having a good time, even if the others have just come back from a Bergman film. (Or a sermon about the End of Days.) Great eyes in these---the lady on our left has very angled eyes, which are perfect for her expression. Love your 3-pronged noses. And those long necks with the deep collars or necklaces, etc. And the lady on the right-end looks like she's craning to get into the 'shot'. Terrific. And btw, I love the 3-part background---the right and left are bold cross hatch, with a blended/washed slab about 2/3 of the way to the right side. Wonderful background. This is a great series. Marvelous mise en scene, smashing Weltanschauung! (Another great entry in this series!) Andrea, I'm only here for a couple right now; I'll return for more in the next day or two. But I wanted to return for at least one or two before the morning left me. A terrific two, at that...
