Description
This could be a female Ruby-Throated Hummingbird or a female Black-Chinned Hummingbird. After much research online, the bottom line is that they are practically indistinguishable. My friend in the PNW is having the same problem with the female Rufous and Calliope Hummingbirds up there. So the female hummingbirds basically look very much alike and small minute differences need to be studied to identify them. Based on what I've read, I'm guessing that this is a female Ruby.
