I assume this is all Michigan...Michigan (esp the lower portion) (the "glove" as we used to call it) has the most beautiful placid lakes. And I don't mean LAKE Michigan---that's a whole other beast---I mean lakes like this. Fine glassy texture on the water; and the imposition of those spindly dry grasses over the lake makes a fine contrast. And in the center of the grasses (bushes, etc)---the bird. The r.w.blackbird doesn't dominate, but it's clearly the centerpiece. And it must feel very good perched up there. In the background, gentle green and the houses...A very gentle, inviting shot, with fine detail in the front plantlife and on the water... (to visitors, the upper peninsula is another universe---it was always hard for me to connect it with the lower peninsula, because the upper is straight out of another planet. Those little mountains seem craggy and fierce, the red ore-rich soil is primal, Lake Superior seems one of the few untouched shorelines in the world---at least it did when I was there last, which was years back---and the forests and twisty roads make you feel if you go 'in' there, you'll never come out. For a small plot of land, it feels vast and ancient. The lower state, by comparison, is so gentle in many spots, esp along the lake, and it feels so placid and beautiful. I suppose it's why Chicagoans go up there to get away from the city---probably to the irritation of the residents, lol, who may be thinking, "hey, we're fine up here, without all of you popping in every spring, summer and fall..." I've not seen all of the lower peninsula, but all I've seen has been beautiful...)
