Alerted by the driver's horn call, other Orcs in the surrounding area started converging in on the tower. An Orc attack is more like a feeding frenzy, they never take prisoners and they all, literally, want a piece of the kill. The first Orcs to emerge from the trees were quickly taken down by Caleya and NarieFah. But more kept appearing and soon some had made it to the tower walls. Caleya preferred her crossbow for close quarters combat and she had it ready. So when the first Orc poked its head over the wall it got a surprise. NarieFah had just shot one Orc and was taking aim on another. She got the shot off and saw it strike. Then she heard some scraping behind her and realized there was one on her side coming over the wall. She spun and reached behind to draw an arrow, but her hand only found empty air. Her mouth went dry and her heart was pounding so loud she couldn't think what to do. The big Orc slowly moved up for an attack. She tried calling out to Caleya but her voice was not working and only a weak sound came out! The Orc paused to show a gruesome smile in anticipation of an easy kill. NarieFah stood there paralyzed. Then one thought broke through the fear. "I can't let Caleya down." She repeated this several times. "If I don't put up a fight this Orc will push me aside and attack Caleya." This thought was enough to break the grasp of the fear that held her. "I have one advantage over this Orc - I'm very fast." She remained motionless as if still frozen in panic. When the Orc started to swing its heavy mace weapon, in a flash NarieFah jumped back and the mace flew past her and crashed into the wall.
