Description
Two visitors to The Mersey this weekend as part of NATO exercises..On the left, the U.S Guided Missile Cruiser, USS Vicksburg...named for the Mississippi city and the Civil War battle.
On the right, the Turkish Frigate, TCG Goksu (F497).....Goksu is an Oliver Hazard Perry class Guided Missile Destroyer, formally of the U.S Navy, named USS Estocin (FFG-15). The Estocin was decommissioned and stricken from the Navy List on 3rd April 2003, when she was transferred to Turkey....

Oh Cool! We don't these type of boats on the River Welland....in fact we don't get any! Amazing what turns up there! Keep checking mate! (I note no Royal Rowing Boat Vessals though) Rob

Oh, the USS Estocin is now a Turkish boat. I remember when I visited her in San Francisco. My photos of a Perry class fast frigate were of her. Im surprised shes now called a destroyer, but maybe shes that in the eyes of the Turks. Nice photo of these vessels. Keep up the good work! Smiley! Something weird has happened to my computer keyboard / dratted machines!
