No once beautiful Descanso Gardens here!
Captured back on 5/29/09, on my first visit to the beautiful Huntington Botanical Center and Conservatory in beautiful San Marino, California.
I ran across this file last night, and was startled by the difference between the two botanical sites. Whereas the Descanso Gardens is a haphazard hit or miss affair, the entire Huntington Center, in contrast, is kept in immaculate condition year round. It was overcast during this first visit, which lent itself to an ambiance of some really lush pristine greenery. One caveat though -- this photo was taken back when it used to rain in Southern California. Another caveat: admission to the Descanso Gardens is six dollars.....and is twenty-two dollars to the Huntington Gardens. You get what you pay for.
Toodles.

Great work on this very lovely capture, Harry.

So lush and lovely, what a beautiful shot! It might be worth revisiting the Huntington Center later in the summer to see how the drought is affecting them. I worry about California!

I'm with denise, not just on her comment, but on california. The whole country should worry about california., what's happening there is awful. Anyway, it's a very green and yellow shot, with an outpouring of fanned-out shapes and billowing greens. In your capture, the tall trees are contrast to the shorter trees (or bushes), which, look like big ultra fuzzy feather dusters. They're very rich, here, and your use of a white sky sets all these off very strongly. A very rich, full shot. You brought out a lot of textures here. (We don't get these varieties in Chicago parks, I assume because they wouldn't last through our winters...)

Oh, that looks so luxurious and tropical and such an array of verdant greens! The money was well spent that day, Harry. Nice shot, Harry!
