Description

A tree hugger's delight, captured back on 5/29/09, on my first visit to the beautiful Huntington Botanical Center and Conservatory in beautiful San Marino, California. I think of a huge avocado with tiny spikes when I look at this pic. I used to know the name of this variety of tree, but time has robbed me of that bit of knowledge. There were some miniature versions of this tree growing around our local fire house, but they are now long gone. And, don't bother to zoom. Cheerio.

What a strange and wonderful tree! It reminds me of something Dr. Seuss might have drawn, an odd green person with spiky thorns all over his body. Superb shot, Harry!

I agree with all the above, and Yves "ABSOLUTE AMAZING". It's not just the tree---which is eye popping as it is. But you've treated this with utter green-ness, lots of pure white light surrounding, and acute attention to sharpness and detail, so that this tree looks like the limb of a gigantic beast who happens to be very, very green. Your treatment of the leaves on the right side are almost like streamers celebrating the tree. And your use of light on the tree makes it look almost plastic. The bottom plants are handled like they have lights in them. An outstanding shot, with a crop that emphasizes this as a huge calf muscle, or derriere, or huge pregnant trunk, or god knows what. If this were a huge pic, it would knock over its viewers. Terrific work on this---and from 2009 yet! A real eye popper, Harry.
