Hello !
My name is Helle. I live in Denmark on the Island, Zealand. I have a husband and two sons and three grandchildren, so I am a happy person.
I like many kinds of art and I try to limit myself, but I dont succeed very well. I love my PSP9 and I think I use it every day. I like to draw, paint and experiment on canvas or paper and I wish I had time do it every day. My biggest wish is, that there would be 48 hours instead of the poor 24 a day. I just dont think it will ever happen ;)
A fantastic new world opened for me, when I was Introduced to Renderosity for the first time. I am very grateful to be a part if this site.

I never saw the original photo, but this is definitely an fantastic old master's kind of representation of The Ferry Inn, Helle. Tivoli Garden near Copenhagen, named after the Jardin de Tivoli, Paris, a garden and park open between 1766 and 1842, built to resemble the gardens of the Villa d'Este in Tivoli, Italy.

You caught the essence of the place, and btw your photo was deep and rich and dark. The clarity of hues and contrasts in that photo are sterling, and the blues (around the windows and doors) is so clear as well. A scintillating shot, with really rich dark shadows and clear-etched hues, and the water reflections are beautiful. (So, Mark, why don't you write this on that upload, instead of HERE??? Well, I should, but I don't want to lose the thread of this painting, so I wind up making two comments here. Send me the proper forms, and you'll get your money back...) IN the painting, you got the dip and slant of that front red structure---the one that looks like a barn. And the presence of the white buildings, and the cubist feeling of all the roofs, and angles and front sections. Along with everything else (the trees, sky, reflections, etc). The sketch feels very painterly, and it has a grain I love (in the paper, maybe, or maybe in your work---in either case, you didn't cover it over but let it speak.) And it does feel like a sketch, a quick interpretation of the place, something the great art masters did all their lives, which is an art form all to itself. It feels spontaneous but also like you thought alot about it. And you got all the sections, all the rectangles and triangles and lights and shadows. (You highlighted some sections more, taking the liberty to make it more a work of art.) It feels comfortable, and casual, and from the mind of someone who's been thinking about and creating art for a long time. I really love the of it, the 'jazzy' feeling of it. (Incl even the squiggles for water, in the reflections.) And the deep hues too. Also, since you've taken out the background buildings, this painting could be in the middle of the countryside...Beautiful work, Helle---free, fast-feeling, and highly attuned to the place you sketched. (And I'm impressed with what Harry knows about the tivoli gardens. I've heard of the tivolis for years, but never knew its history.)
