Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Hmm.. Not the right time to fall. Looks like a chestnot leaf...I am probably not right, but it is beautiful image, Andrea :-) Atleast I am right about that. :)

How fortunate we are for you to share these gorgeous petals before they disappear forever. Outstanding catch of the mix of gorgeous colors and the fallen leaf is a cute addition.

An outstanding image and composition. The leaf covers the petals as if to protect them. For some reason this reminded me of the Kamikazi pilots. They were known as Cherry Blossoms because, like the blossoms, for one brief glorious moment they were at their peak of youth and beauty and then would fall to earth.

They look beautiful, even if they are fallen. Fantastic shot!

A beautiful vision, Andrea, you treated this so well...your postwork of all the petals makes them seem like dreams, now, while the leaf is sharp and clear. It does feel like a farewell of sorts, or a celebration of a life. The black background adds to that totally, as does your blurbed and colonized treatment of all the petals. (That was "blurbed", not "blurred".) And that gold-yellow against all that pink-white is strking. Beautiful piece, very evocative of "fallen". It stood out as soon as it went up---I saw it almost immediately---and in full view it's a whole painting. (Interesting comment by Mark, too, who always leaves such fascinating comments on RR.)

Lots of piles of petals around here right now too; they're still lovely that way too, until they brown and the wind blows them away. Wonderful shot!
