Description

This is the Scissor-tailed Flycatcher just taking off, showing the beautifully spread tail feathers that they are named for. The bright wing patches only show up when they fly. It's really the same bird. I just dropped the second shot into the first one. So to be fair I used the 'manipulation' tag, but it's more photo than manipulation. Preview is very soft. Details will be much better in zoom view. I really appreciate your kind comments and views - thank you.

Well I said I was keen to see the BIF (bird(s) in flight) version, and it was well worth the wait Tex. What a fantastic shot, and a grand bit of composite work by you :)

Wow, the Scissor-tail on the left appears to be vaulting that strand of barbed wire, with the one on the right in close pursuit, Maria. Superb closeup clarity and focus in this cool image. Incidentally, I came upon a hummingbird in flight within my condominium complex today, and have no idea how you capture these guys with such perfection, what with their unbelievable darting about.
