Description
Captured today, Mother's Day, 5/10/15 @ 12:05 pm, at the beautiful Fullerton Arboretum, adjacent to the beautiful California State University Fullerton, in beautiful Fullerton, California.
A telephoto of the reptiles was necessary since they were inaccessible otherwise. Compared to the Western Painted variety, the carapace on both of these guys is nothing to write home about. I wonder if that's what they mean by 'mossback.' In contrast to my last visit eight years ago, I saw only one duck, and the turtles were difficult to photograph, hiding under fronds, ledges and shore overhangs. Revenge of the turtles!
Ciao.

Great shot, and lucky they stayed still for you instead of running away.

Those look like red-eared sliders, Harry, and not long out of the pondbottom muck either. Ours have that algae coating too when they surface in the spring. Wonderful capture of these two!
