Description

Captured today, Mother's Day, 5/10/15 @ 12:05 pm, at the beautiful Fullerton Arboretum, adjacent to the beautiful California State University Fullerton, in beautiful Fullerton, California. A telephoto of the reptiles was necessary since they were inaccessible otherwise. Compared to the Western Painted variety, the carapace on both of these guys is nothing to write home about. I wonder if that's what they mean by 'mossback.' In contrast to my last visit eight years ago, I saw only one duck, and the turtles were difficult to photograph, hiding under fronds, ledges and shore overhangs. Revenge of the turtles! Ciao.

Those look like red-eared sliders, Harry, and not long out of the pondbottom muck either. Ours have that algae coating too when they surface in the spring. Wonderful capture of these two!
