Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

What a beautiful knob !!!!
Adobe_One_Kenobi
Should have put this down as "Picture of a knob" the views would have gone through the roof LOL!! I remember as a kid our door knobs were all like this too, then they came up with the lever type.

Awesome picture of the 92 year old golden oldie Andrea. The newer style is pretty and more people friendly indeed. .

I had to change my door handles to round ones when I first got Jenna as she could open all the doors.

Great capture of this knob and the lever! the one house I lived in had glass knobs - very cool as I remember!

Or a barbell for a very small weightlifter. I still have the original knobs on my front door but the building is only 51 years old so I still have a ways to go. The new one has a lot of character.

Old style beauty! I have to say I prefer the levered ones too for their ease of use hands-free!

If the screws were eyes - I can see a cute character!

Yes, the levered knob has real use. And it's classier than most everyday knobs. But this knob has real presence, in your shot. Real presence. This reminds me of the art of the 70s and 80s in New York, when artists were painting---and reworking photos---of household objects; and a whole new excitement was brewing over the strange beauty of everyday objects when seen as art. You postworked this for colonies and almost a camouflage pattern (on the door plate); and the huge presence of that knob is like one of Magritte's apple paintings, with the apple taking up the whole room. (Ok, now I gotta give a reference---not that you don't know it, but if I don't give a reference, the footnote police will take me away...here's a jpg, too dark! but you'll see what I'm talking about: https://fapt305.files.wordpress.com/2013/09/img_06051.jpg It's called "The Listening Room".) See, that knob has that kind of all-consuming presence, only it's surrounded by dissolving white (great choice), and it's echoed by the plate behind it. I love this! And here I go again, but you got 3 zooms for 17 views (before me), and those other 14 people didn't get the impact of this thing when big: It just takes over the frame and squeezes out everything else! I love it.
