Description
Greetings Folks,
Not planned but having found out how to work photoshop I though you might like to actually see what Sally B/Memphis Belle (she played her in the movie and still wears the scheme), looks like air borne..
On the right days Duxford can get shots as if you are in another aircraft alongside.. Just like this.. I've even better than this, even jets!
Now, sad news just announced.. This will be the last year The Vulcan will be flying.. From last show she will be preserved for the nation.. Having received no support from big sponsors or the Government it fell onto the people to keep her flying for this long.. She is coming to the end of life hours so they plan to fit in as many shows as possible..
Cosford is booked and I hope to see it at Shuttleworth Collection, yes there!
I'll be away for a bit from Tuesday, no posts or comments from Monday..
Enjoy this.
Rob

Loved the film Even when the plane is finally grounded, I hope the world won't forget the sacrifice the crews gave.

'Sally' never looked better, even with two smoking engines...Sad about the Vulcan, a fate that awaits all these great planes one day I fear...Hope you have a great time 'away' :-)

On the plus side, the Vulcan will get a rest ... until a sponsor can be found again. Miracles happen.

Eeeek! I thought it was jetisoning fuel for a forced landing. Phew! Great photo, but the smoke kind of gets me (worry, worry about the few that are left). As for the Vulcan being grounded, it may be a blessing in disguise (no worry about accidents). And perhaps your next photos are from the inside (cockpit, etc....). Glad to see you posting! Keep up the good work! :-)

superb capture. hard times ahead for relics of the past unfortunately

Great capture, Rob! While it is sad to hear of the Vulcan's grounding; as others have said it, it is a blessing in that she won't crash.

Great shot of the Memphis Belle limping in after a raid on Essen, Rob. The flak or Messerschmitts must have done a real number on the venerable Fortress, but it looks like it should make it back okay. And, sorry to read of the elegant Vulcan.

fantastic work

Very fine shot of the good ol' Fling Fortress. May she fly on forever. Sad news about the Vulcan - always my most favorite "V" bomber.

An absolutely stunning shot of this classic plane, Rob! This couldn't be more perfect! Word of warning here.... Once you fall in love with Photoshop, there's no going back....LOL... Trust me on this..... :-P
