Description

I noticed the majority of my uploads have been "fan art". As a change of pace, I'm uploading something "original", characters and situations I imagined some 25 years ago. At the time they may have been distinctive, but with the passing of a quarter century, now they're pretty much cliches in popular entertainment. Still, I hold a soft spot for them and metaphorically "dust them off" every so often. Those of you who've looked at other entries in my gallery may recognize the ailuromorph (cat-girl) from the upload "Who's back there?" She's the cornerstone of this cyberpunk scenario, Kth'arr Rauthimas (yeah, a very pretentious sounding name). I've continually tweaked her since I purchased the base figure "Melody" and the extended morph set "Furries for..." which allowed me to finally depict her reasonably close to how I drew in in graphite. the biggest change from that older image has been her textures. I swapped out Daio's "Cattitude" for Capsces' "Fisher Cat" as it was closer to the "pelt" design I sketched on paper. Though the angle presented here does not really "showcase" those textures. The human is Miko Yakamura and only within the last month did I finally translate her into 3D. Amazingly, I already had most of the pieces I required stored in my runtime. The only thing missing was her top knot ponytail and I quickly found that at ShareCG. Here we see them gossiping over lunch at a cozy lil' "dive" of a diner, Miko enjoying a light salad and K'th feasting upon sushi and (probably) ramen noodles. From the cat-girl's expression, it seems she's VERY interested in what Miko has to say. Let's roll the credits. Just trying to depict a bit of "slice of life" even if the setting is science fiction. After all, every scene can't be explosions and what-not. ;-) Sincerely, Bill

Very cool and perfect lighting.

It's a modification of a lighting arrangement that came with the diner set. I tweaked a few lights to ensure both ladies were highlighted. Sincerely, Bill

Yeah, I always enjoy doing renders with Kth. Most of them rarely get get uploaded, but I have fun doing them. Sincerely, Bill

The "casual" aspect is not too different from your "Morning Coffee" scene. Sincerely, Bill

Very very nice! I really like the concept! The bold colors are excellent!

If anyone is wondering about the heavy use of green, Coflek-Gnorg modeled a decorative oval loop of neon tubing mounted upon the wall. (You can see a pixel or two in the extreme upper right corner, above and behind Kth's head.) With that detail, Gnorg added a strong green light to the scene. In theory, it would be an easy material to change the ambient color of the tubing to whatever color one desired, however... The panel where the tube is positioned has a ring of green "baked" into the texture that also plugs into an ambient channel. One would need an image editor to redo that particular texture. I decided it was easier just to go with the green as Gnorg intended. ;-) Sincerely, Bill

Amazing character work! All the details are so delightful and you've captured a great moment.

Yeah, it's often the "little things" that add something "special" to the scene. For example, though Miko is having a salad, you may have noticed there's a saki rice wine bottle next to her plate. Maybe not such a healthy meal after all. ;-) Sincerely, Bill

In a couple of hundred years you might actually be able to see that scene. Developments in science. Changes how world culture (and our own) culture sees things with regard to bioengineering intelligent life. Retro malt shops styled from the 1950's. It's fun to imagine the possibilities. I like everything about that scene especially what you did with the lighting and the colors. It looks like a Kelly Freas illustration for an Analog cover or one of his illustrations for a science fiction book. I'd love to read that story. Great work! Seriously. Thanks for posting it. I'm certainly nowhere near the mastery of Kelly Freas, but thanks for the kind words. More compliments like that and my head will swell! As for bio-engineered life, I fear whenever it happens, we'll witness an era of social discord that will make today's racial injustice look like a kindergarten squabble. We can only hope this scene takes place after things have settled. Of course, K'th may not be an "uplift". She could just be a human into extreme body modification, viewed with no more shock than we do people who wear extensive tattoos or piercings. Or, she may be something else. Who knows? Oh, wait; I do. Snicker Sincerely, Bill

For that we gotta' thank Beth Capsces. She's the artist/vendor who created the add-on morph set making "Melody" a far more versatile figure mesh. Sincerely, Bill

I'm running out of "clever" responses, new ways of saying "Thanks!"

Alas, K'th has languished a bit in my runtime as I have sought to refine another cat-girl character, a Poser version of Lt. Mzzkiti, the lead of a LONG defunct web-comic I used to illustrate.

Sincerely,

Bill
