Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Oooh, 21st-Century temples! Well, that's what they are in Chicago, but we have strange gods here. You're right: they have such a presence. In their way they're pretty, though I imagine how much prettier they'd be if some of them were greenhouses, while others were affordable homes, but that's just me. I love the way you've assembled this piece and the sense of ordered, structured repetition is really nice: it mirrors the standard skyscraper form itself...squares and rectangles and occasional, intriguingly empty spaces. I like this.

It does have a sense of beauty especially the way you have assembled it. I also prefer flowers and nature landscapes to cement and glass jungles, but i have to admit this dizzying collection is very compelling. Thanks for sharing your creativity. :)

lol Andrea: "Hideous, but great shots of hell". (It'd be great to find out that Andrea lived in a penthouse apt in Manhattan's upper West Side.) Anyway, you brought the ever-present high rise into a wholly new focus with these 6 encircling images. The whole almost seems kaleidoscopic. And your inner borders, made of bits of the high rise shots, makes it all seem like a hall of mirrors. A marvelous treatment of the all-present high rise city; and all the angles and light and shadows make for a really fine abstract. I really love this.
