Description

Thundershield (Please zoom for details) As promissed, a little about the play I let me hire to do. Thundershield - Peter and Christian. We are in the second decade in the 1700s and once more Denmark-Norway is at war with its rival Sweden. We follow the young hero and very popular energetic and very skilled naval Danish-Norwegian commander Peter Wessel Thundershield (Tordenskjold) and his loyal valet and friend, Christian Poulsen Kold. Thundershield has a fame in Norway and Denmark, almost like Lord Nelson in UK. The story is played by four very skilled actors, two men and two women, playing all the performing characters. They players are from Denmark, Sweden and Iceland. (I will introduce them later, shown by photos from the rehearsels) The instruction (and playing of course) is mainly by the four actors themselves. My job was/is doing the play, dialogues, music/songs (latest to further and finishing work by a musician, which I am certainly not! ;o) ). I also had suggested costumes and scenography, a job which I have done before, and here supported by my big interest in history. The play has 9 scenes, - the first 3 scenes shown here in 3D with my comments. The rest will follow very soon. Rhanagaz/JohnnyC ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thundershield - Peter & Christian. The scenes are ideas and suggestions - and of course - what I could find in my "big box" with 3D content. Scene 1. Thundershield's mother gave birth to 12 sons and 6 daughters (besides one more?) - so she appears as a mother with a baby (doll) clarifying her significant function in the family as such. The scene is a fantasy or dream Christian has.The mother tells about Thundershield's childhood. In the end of the scene Christian starts revealing about his life as a trusted valet and also friend of baron Thundershield. Scene 2. The heroic song. Christian's first meeting with Thundershield in "The White Eagle Pub", The baron hires Christian - and we experience Thundershield popularity. He was a celebrity and worshipped like a popstar today - both by children and adults - and especially by young women (groupies? ;o) ). He is a very intelligent and very well articulated young man with big social ambitions. When home in Copenhagen he visited all the bourgeois "events", invited or just inviting himself. Generous or harsh, as the situation needs. His directness in speech and acts makes him not only friends but also enemies. But at "The White Eagle Pub" he entertains and sing for and with both his friends and the strangers he meets. Here we hear for the first time, the "Heroic song", Thundershields theme throughout the play. Scene 3. On the high sea. Christian's - a little surrealistic and for him scary - reliving of the time with Thundershield onboard the ship "The White Eagle". The very enterprising, commander, "multitasks" - every moment must be utilized to its maximum. When he sees he is slowly winning a sea battle he suddenly remembering a letter to the Danish king, and once more telling about his great victories and deeds in naval and land battles: "Your high Majesty, don't I deserve being ennobled?.." But he is surely a born leader. He destroys the Swedish ship systematically until it can't fight any longer and their commander surrender, but at the same time interrupts writing the letter.. Damn..
