Description
As I mentioned earlier I wanted to try this out with a car, so here it is.
I modeled this car back in 2009 and made it a poseable prop for poser. Well that same prop loaded up without any trouble in Daz Studio 4.8 Iradium. I converted all the scene materials over to Iray shaders and lit this scene entirely with the environment hdr image that is default. I also replaced the car materials with ones from the provided iray shader presets.
I was really impressed :)
I also used one of the daz freebies - Bus stop to create the background scene. this has a tiny amount of postwork to tone down the brightness, and add the Vignette and sig.

Yup :) I'm enjoying Iray more and more. I love cars, and rendering them so this is a real treat :)

Holy crap, Brett, this is simply gorgeous!!!!!! The paint job looks great (I've been using that myself) but the shadows are what really grabs me!!!! Do you have a multiple light source or is everything just reflected ambient light from the background and other objects? OUTSTANDING!

LOL, That's some serious car porn huh? :) I think the paint might have a metal flake setting active that needs to be adjusted, there are some elements in the paint reflection that should not be there... I'll have to take a look. The lighting and shadows are all generated from the Environment only.... No lights added to this scene at all. Glad that you like how it turned out :)

LOL, thanks... I really wish they had built this car. It should have been the new Acura NSX for 2012.

That's a seriously good model and you've done a fine job rendering it. Paint and reflections look spot on to me. Impressive !

Thank you, I put some serious time into modeling it, and even more into mapping and setting it up as a poseable prop. The design is really inspiring, so it was an exceptional creative experience... no regrets. The Iray base shaders that come with Daz are pretty nice, with a good assortment of surface types. I only adjusted the base color for the most part.

I'm still using 4.7 as I set up my scene in Daz but render in Octane. Iray looks like it will give other render engines a good run for their money and of course it's free. I'll upgrade anyway and give it a try. I look forward to seeing more of your images.
