Description
Captured 5/11/12, mid afternoon, at the Bolsa Chica Conservancy Wetlands, in beautiful Huntington Beach, California, near beachzz's old stomping grounds.
This chap was equipped with not only a long lens camera and tripod, but also with binoculars and a telescope. Even though I was the only other human within a two mile perimeter, he didn't bother to acknowledge my presence, and since there was no wildlife out there during my long visit that I could detect - and I was trying hard - I sure don't know what he was looking at. I think he was wasting his time, energy and patience out in that desolate no man's land.
Sayonara.

Perhaps he saw something through that telescope that was not visible to your eye? Nice candid shot, Harry, and nice wetlands, too.

Well if it was out there he was going to spot it with all that gear, no doubt! Great capture of the well-equipped enthusiast, Harry!

Interesting. Very nice catch though, even if you didn't seem to be acknowledged by the other photographer.

He must think that with this body of water, there had to have birds coming to drink or small animals ... Good question anyway !!! great catch !!!

Looking at the dead trees and barren landscape I see your point about nothing there.. Its not very attractive to birds etc is it mate.. Neat camera though. Rob

as a picture, it's just plain fine. The composition and arid openness, contrasted with the photographer decked out with equipment (and baggy outfit, etc)---it's just a fine juxtaposition. This could be in Africa, Australia, who knows where---such aridness for a wetlands. And the photographer is indeed all concentration, waiting for something that apparently didn't come. The fallen tree to his left (our right) is a nice linear continuation of his presence. As the long lens at his hip takes us into the right side of the shot. Very finely seen and cropped and composed. And I really like the feel of the photographer. Very fine shot, Harry, to go with your other fine photographer-on-photographer shots... (and btw, that's one big lens!)
