Description
This small, but ornate, chapel is located on the grounds of the Chateau d'Amboise. Leonardo Da Vinci is buried inside this chapel & that's my good friend & traveling companion Allen about to enter it.
How about that Allen - I just managed to work your name into the same sentence as the great Leonardo Da Vinci! Actually, while Allen may not be as famous as Leonardo, he is very well known & well-respected here in southern Oregon & does an amazing amount of volunteer political & social work that benefits our local community...

Oh wow another great stop, this is a gorgeous building and interesting information. Sounds like your friend Allen is a modern day "famous southerner" especially in your area. What a wonderful way to compliment your friend and travelling companion. You are very fortunate to have such a hard working and loyal "buddy" indeed !

Incredible to see this intricate carving that folk were prepared to pay for long ago.

Thanks, Claude. Good thing I was paying attention and viewed this exceptional photo among the many that you post. I'm honored to be your friend and always happy to be your traveling companion and am really looking forward to our fall extravaganza!

It is amazing to me how much work went into the carvings on these old buildings; when craftsmen were really appreciated! Beautiful capture of this building!

What amazing stonework! How very talented these masons were so long ago. Great photo of this famous chapel.

I see this and I realize that we have the culture from the past but we of the present have nothing Beautiful capture

Leonardo da Vinci, an Italian, buried in a French chapel? Oh well, whatever will be, will be. Cool shot of your friend Allen entering through the excessively carved entrance to the edifice.

So Allen is roguetographer! You may have told us that, but right now I don't remember (my memory lacks more and more with each year...) But very fine words about him, and it's a pleasure to meet him via you. I love his presence here---he takes us right into the present, and asks us to walk inside with him. Those old chateaus---what do you say? "I love what you did with the place"...We had a welcome mat as a kid, and a lightly ornate door knocker; but these people had biblical scenes, scenes from major wars, carvings of lords and ladies, Christian, saints and even the Virgin Mary, Christ, and others, as their "entryways". I like your bleached high key treatment, leaving aged yellows to bring out the age and detail. And it makes the entry way and Allen look central to the image, also mysterious, even foreboding. Also, fine cropping, letting the facade sit centrally for us. More fine work, Claude, with Allen as the link to us and to the present...
