Pleased to meet you Gosha ! - another member of your fine family Nikolay and you did a sterling job with your eloquent 'special touch' ... he has got that melancholy and long faraway look in his eyes, which I only know too well ... BB I also have some nice memories of my 'dream-time' as a child, during my early school years in Germany ... except when it happened doing - during my homework, then I got the better end of the stick with physical abuse and told to stop dreaming! ... (the times have changed and nowadays one would never ever touch this beautiful child with that kind treatment, I rest my case.)

With different clothing this could easily be a 19th century impressionist painting. A superb reworking of your lovely grandson. I hope he never loses his ability to dream.

a wonderful pose, just as a portrait (pre-postwork). I really like the way he looks out, and the tilt of his head, his querying expression, and those lovely pursed lips. He's cropped so he seems to have just settled into the picture, having come in from out of frame on our right. It's a really fine portrait, Nikolay. Then your postwork---you get painterly effects, where your brushwork seems to be in slabs of either the brush or the knife; so you've broken all planes into much smaller slightly agitated planes within. It imparts an energy, but a freer one than if you used smaller strokes or even dots (as the impressionists did). It's on the soft and sensual side. The all-white background is a great contrast...looks like a studio shot in that way. Brilliantly done, and a beautiful thoughtful seeking capture of your beloved grandson.
