Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

It's the best thing you can do when it's hot. Great capture!

When I saw the title I expected an image of the dogs. When Ernie was fighting the enemies of England I'm sure he never imagined he'd end his days piloting the remote. Most of us never do. This is a brilliant image, sweet and a little sad.

I have enough trouble getting any sleep in a bed let alone on a couch. As an insomniac, I have NEVER fallen asleep on a couch, in a bus etc! EVER!

great candid capture Andrea! I'm like Andrew - I have a very difficult time getting to sleep in my own bed, let alone anywhere else...

It is sad to say that we will all be in the future photos of this scene!

Awww, bless their hearts. Touching photo. Maybe the dogs were cuddling with someone else who was awake at the moment.

terrific capture of 3 people sleeping deeply, and of how we all become more and more like children as we get older. And it's also quite a shot, visually, with the different tilts of the head, and the deep absorption of their sleep. I also love the three pairs of feet: Ernie's wearing monk-straps; the middle woman is wearing, I assume, normal shoes; and the right-most woman has socks---and thick white socks at that! that alone makes this a most interesting shot. Needs to be seen full to get the impact of this delicate but powerful panorama. A wonderful capture of humanity---and the black and white has a much more gritty journalistic feel, because of the black and white. Amazing what color and its lack can do to change a shot...

I think tennis would do this to me too. But then again, I am not a sporty kind of person, never was. As I have not looked at a TV for well over ten or so years, it wouldn't bother me. God bless them.

I'm not sitting in a comfy chair when you are around.

I can relate. Plenty of emotion in this one. My thermometer registered a high of 124 degrees. That's not quite fair, because it sits on a piece of wood in a hole on a concrete block, and the sun hits it in the morning. But it was definitely hot.
