Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

wow, another great insect shot from you---have you ever seen fighter planes refuel in mid-air? This reminds me of them---one dfly is feeding the other with its long abdomen, the way two planes do in mid-air. It's amazing, esp full size, where we can see the almost metalic sheen on the lower dfly, and the lonnnnng formation of the two, and the wholly transparent almost wire-made wings. With lots of shoots. And those 3 yellow leaves---shooting upwards---are like sun rays butting into the whole shot. Wonderful insect macro. Another in this amazing recent series. (Btw, "dfly" is my abbreviation for damselfly. I could've said "pn"---for Pyrrhosoma nymphula---but I can't even pronounce that, so I let it go...) (do insects use latin names when speaking to each other?)

Well caught, I came across two tiny Damsel fly's and there body's made the shape of a heart , sods law I had left the camera at home.

Gorgeous details in the Damselflies but also the veining in the leaves!
